Suspect sought in two HATE-MOTIVATED assaults

Police request the public’s help in tracking down a suspect accused of committing hate-motivated assaults on 2 men. Both of these men were of South Asian descent, and were attacked without warning.

The first attacked happened Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and First Street area, a man approached a 21-year-old man. Without warning, the suspect began to strike the 21-year-old man several times.

The suspect removed the man’s turban. Afterwards, the suspect began running eastbound on Lake Shore Boulevard West.

The second attack occurred on Monday, August 31, 2020, in the Dwight Avenue and Birmingham Street area. The suspect approached a 23-year-old man. He began striking him on his head. The suspect then began running northbound on Dwight Avenue.

The suspect is described as white, 20-25 years old, 5’8″, 180 lbs, wearing a grey hooded sweater, grey sweatpants and a black baseball cap.

Despite the low quality resolution of the images, police hope they can help somebody identify the suspect.
